They are all very experienced but their careers have exposed them to different aspects of medicine. This adds to our strength as with shared values and team working, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Dr Sarah Gray

Sarah trained as a GP in Essex and moved to Cornwall in 1992. Having been a full-time GP, she stepped down in 2003 to develop both the women’s health and educational aspects of her career. She has worked with the National Institute of Healthcare and Clinical Excellence (NICE), the British Menopause Society and the GMC all for over 10 years. She ran the only NHS specialist menopause clinic in Devon and Cornwall from 2001 until it was decommissioned in 2016. She worked within the NHS until 2022.

For her, women’s health requires the same holistic approach as General Practice but extended with an expert level of knowledge and specialist skills. She is recognised as an expert at UK and International level, writes text-book chapters and articles for healthcare professionals and leads the team at St Erme Medical.

Dr Abby Farrell

Abby studied medicine in Warwick as a postgraduate, having completed degrees in Physiology & Pharmacology and Forensic Anthropology prior to starting her medical studies. During her undergraduate degree she also studied and worked for a year in the United States within the field of neurophysiology.

Abby was heavily involved in medical student teaching at Warwick Medical School. She was both a facilitator of communication skills for medical students and was involved in the Medical School Admission process. She completed her foundation and specialist training in Warwickshire and moved to Cornwall with her family in 2017.

Abby considers her work as a GP a unique opportunity to be an integral part of a patient’s health journey. She therefore enjoys maintaining a broad interest in all areas of medicine. She is particularly interested in acute and musculoskeletal medicine.

When not at work, Abby enjoys running and exploring Cornwall with her family.

Dr Anna Morris

Anna attended medical school in London before training as a GP in Cornwall where she has practiced for over 20 years.
She describes herself as generalist but she also has an interest in women’s health issues. She has started specialist menopause training.

She enjoys taking the time to get to the root of the patient’s issue, involving the patient at all times. She believes that the doctor – patient relationship is of paramount importance. Alongside her work at St Erme Medical, Dr Morris works in oncology at The Royal Cornwall Hospital and as a locum GP. She is currently undertaking menopause specialist training.

In her free time, Dr Morris is a keen runner. She enjoys spending time with her family and dog and trying to keep on top of her unruly garden.

Charlotte-Patton

Charlotte qualified from Newcastle University in 2011 and initially started training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She changed to General Practice, enjoying the opportunities this gives to provide a holistic and patient-centred approach to healthcare. She continued to pursue her passion for women’s health, in particular contraception and menopause care.

Alongside working as a GP, Charlotte worked for two years as a Specialty Doctor in sexual health at the New Croft Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne. During this time, she gained postgraduate qualifications in sexual health and menopause.

Charlotte is now developing her role as a trainer. She works with St Austell Healthcare to provide women’s health services. She relocated to Cornwall to be closer to family. When not at work, she enjoys trips to the beach with her children, gardening and renovating her new home.

Diana provides a holistic approach to women’s health care, ensuring that patients are at the heart of the decision making process and all options are explored. Although she has held several national and international roles developing medical guidelines and standards, her real love is patient care – this is why she went to medical school.

Diana trained at the Welsh National School of Medicine in Cardiff and almost completed GP training in Newport. However, she was attracted by the bright lights of London to continue postgraduate studies in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She subspecialised in Community Gynaecology moving to the North East in 1995. She has been an NHS Consultant in Community Gynaecology and Reproductive Healthcare in Newcastle upon Tyne since 1997. She is based at New Croft Centre on Market Street East, Newcastle. Her clinics see women with medical gynaecology problems including adolescent menstrual issues, complex contraception/sexual health problems, psychosexual concerns, heavy menstrual bleeding, premenstrual tension, polycystic ovary syndrome, hypothalamic amenorrhoea and menopausal issues. Diana is a British Menopause Society recognised specialist and trainer.

Dr Kirsty Gillies

Kirsty qualified from Edinburgh Medical School in 2006. She initially started training in Respiratory Medicine and gained membership of the Royal College of Physicians. She changed to General Practice after having children. She completed her GP training in Oxford in 2017.

Her GP training expanded her interest in women’s health. She has developed this to enable her to provide more specialised contraception and menopause management. She has completed the Advanced Certificate in Menopause Care and is recognised as a BMS Menopause Specialist.

Kirsty works for St Erme Medical both in the Nuffield Hospital Exeter and remotely. She is also a GP in East Devon and is a tutor at the University of Exeter running special study modules for year 1 and 3 medical students on the Menopause. She is passionate about menopause education for both healthcare professions and patients.

Kirsty has two boys aged 9 and 11 years old and a golden retriever, called Ozzie. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, walking and being on the beach.

Dr Rebekah Gibbons

Rebekah qualified from Cardiff Medical School in 1998 and went on to train as a GP in Plymouth. She has worked in Cornwall as a GP for over 15 years.

Rebekah has developed a particular interest in Women’s Health and in 2009 after training with Dr Sarah Gray, gained the FSRH Certificate in Menopause Care. She was a GP Trainer and DFRSH Trainer for 5 years and is now supporting doctors through appraisals and mentoring.

In recent years Rebekah also furthered her interest in holistic health, and wellbeing, focusing on Neuro-linguistic Programming and Clinical Hypnotherapy. In 2021 she gained Senior Practitioner level as an EMCC Coach and Mentor.

Rebekah is married with three grown-up children. She enjoys yoga, meditation, swimming and the great outdoors.

Katie qualified from Warwick medical school in 2007 and returned to South Devon to be closer to family and to complete General Practice training.

She took an early interest in women’s health undertaking qualifications in contraception and general gynaecology.

Once her family was complete, Katie extended her qualifications into menopause and holds the BMS advanced certification in menopause care.

Together with her work as a GP, Katie has a strong interest in teaching at all levels from basic small groups up to larger locality levels. She is one of the founding members involved with a Devon wide scheme to provide grassroots menopause teaching to all health care professionals.

Katie is passionate about providing patient centred care and understands the broader holistic support that is beneficial for all aspects of medicine.

Katey is an experienced GP with an extended role in Women’s Health. She has lived and worked in Cornwall for 20 years after studying medicine in London as a mature student. She strongly believes in a holistic approach, with traditional GP values and particularly in communication and continuity of care.

Katey offers appointments both for a broad range of general health issues and women’s health assessments. She will provide health reviews and screening for both men and women including smear tests and prostate assessments.

She will provide contraception advice and offers all reversible methods of contraception with experience in Intrauterine device fitting with use of local anaesthetic if appropriate.

Dr Pickles

Dr Pickles attended the University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff, qualifying in 2005, before training as a GP in the Southwest of England.

Having completed her GP training in 2010 she moved to Scotland for a time where she undertook additional training to work in both General Practice and Occupational Medicine. She has continued to work in both sectors since, gaining extensive experience across primary and secondary care, undertaking specialist qualifications and joining the specialist register as a Consultant Occupational Health Physician in early 2024. She remains on both the generalist and specialist register with the GMC, continuing to work in General Practice & Occupational Medicine.

Dr Pickles can offer appointments for a broad range of general health issues, as well as more specialist assessments relating to health at work and fitness for work, including sickness absence management, pre-employment medical support and specialist medicals required for work. She is an approved doctor for ionising radiation, undertaking HSE required medicals and reviews for employees who work in this field, with other approvals pending.

Dr Pickles has an interest in education and has supported delivery of Diploma in Occupational Medicine training courses, training of GPs and specialist trainees within the specialty. She is able to facilitate training for businesses on various aspects of supporting employee health in the workplace, both in general and specifically in respect of women’s health.

Dr Pickles moved to Cornwall in 2018 with her young family, a welcome move back ‘home’ for her husband, and outside of work enjoys making the most of living in this beautiful county.

Chrissie was a registered general nurse within first the RAF and then NHS general practice for over 30 years. She retired to Cornwall but was then encouraged to come back to work for St Erme. She helps with blood tests, ECGs, dressings, acts as a chaperone and assists the doctors during procedures.

Mike Gray

Practice manager

Mike is a Building Services Engineer by training but has been married to Dr Gray for 40 years and for over half of that time has provided professional support and administration for her. He was an integral element of the building design and project management for St Erme Medical and now runs the strategic side of the practice.
