Private Health Checks
A health review can help you to take control of your own health. We will talk through your current situation and look at how your personal and family background as well as lifestyle choices affect you. We aim to assist you to identify issues that increase risks for the future. We will discuss options that can reduce those risks and enable you to stay well.
What Makes Us Different?
We provide a traditional, experienced and evidence-based approach.
Care that is Individualised
We try to understand you as a person along with your medical and other background issues and help you to find a solution that works for you.
Evidence Based Medicine
We are up to date and understand what the research and guidelines say. We use these as a basis for our suggestions for management but are careful to consider how they apply to you.
Expert Medical Team
Every member of the clinical team has many years of experience and can bring this to your consultation.
Continuity of Care
We try as far as is possible to ensure that you see or are replied to by the same clinician every time.
How does a health check work?
We will ask you to provide us with background information via a questionnaire and then make two appointments, in the first, you will be assessed by the doctor who will take blood and urine tests as appropriate and an ECG if desired. In the second appointment, the results will be explained and you can develop a plan for the future.
How Do I Know What Is Right For Me?
Your age will largely determine the priorities for a health review, but this will be fine-tuned with the information from the questionnaire.
Between 40 and 60, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other metabolic diseases are the main health challenges. Over 60 cancer risks are building and we can discuss the screening that is available as well as the options for mitigation.
What about my NHS GP?
You will be sent a report with results and recommendations, which you may choose to share with your GP. In rare instances, if something serious is uncovered, with your permission, we can talk to your GP directly.
How Often Should I Do This?
That is your choice though do ask the doctor you see for their recommendation for you. You may want to do an annual review but at the outside we would suggest every 5 years.
Who might choose to do this?
Anyone, particularly over the age of 40. We would encourage everyone at midlife to take stock and look at what they can do to improve their health and future prospects.
