Men's Health
St Erme Medical is an independent sector General Practice led by Dr Sarah Gray. She has provided General Practice with specialist advice in women’s health for over 30 years, seeing patients privately since 2000. She now leads a team of doctors who work to the same high standard and are supported by a healthcare assistant and the administration team.
As experienced GPs the team will see men as well as women for a wide range of problems as well as for health reviews and medicals.
What Makes Us Different?
We provide a traditional, experienced and evidence-based approach.
Continuity of Care
Your consultation will be with a doctor and where possible your care will be continued by the same doctor.
Experienced GP's
Our doctors are all up to date and highly experienced. They work as a team when issues are complex and will refer to other specialists if appropriate.
Time to Talk
You will have much longer to tell us your story, to be listened to and to discuss your concerns than is available in NHS General Practice.
Making a Decision
You choose which the option you would like to follow and we will help you to make decision that is informed and right for you.
What Men's Health Services do we offer?
We offer a range of men’s health services, from health reviews to prostate problems.
Health Reviews
We will allow 45 minutes thoroughly to understand your current health and the factors influencing it. You will be offered examination as appropriate and a series of blood and urine tests to provide further information with possibly an ECG.
We will be looking for risks from cardiovascular disease, diabetes, your prostate as well as many other factors. In a further 30 minute appointment typically a week later we will explain the findings and the conclusions we would draw from this. We will discuss what you can do to help yourself and what further steps may be considered.
You will be sent a report explaining this within two weeks.
Erectile Dysfunction
If erectile dysfunction is a problem for you and your partner we can start the process of evaluating whether there is a treatable cause. We will offer a cardiovascular risk assessment as well as a hormone check and if appropriate examination. We can provide a private prescription for the oral medications available to help.
Prostate Problems
If you are concerned about your prostate and want time to discuss the issues it is causing and start an assessment process we can help. We have time to listen and wont rush you.
Testosterone Deficiency
Studies suggest that 2% of men many become testosterone deficient and this can have very many causes. It is not the same as menopause in women. If you are worried that this may be affecting you we can start investigation and refer for further help if appropriate.
General Health Issues
We see both men and women with general health problems and would allow 30 minutes for a typical GP appointment.
What problems can we help you with?
We offer time to allow you to explain your problem and understand the factors that may contribute. We understand that this may be embarassing and not something you might normally discuss.
We will examine with your consent if appropriate and arrange investigations such as blood tests if they could help. We can arrange ultrasound and other imaging options but only in the private sector.
We can refer for a more specialist opinion. However If we confidently identify an issue that can be managed with medicines we will offer the option of a prescription.
What to Expect
St Erme Medical supplements the services provided by the NHS providing time with experienced doctors, continuity of care and management options that are evidence based and supported by guidance. In addition to problem based consultations, we can offer medicals for insurance, visa and other purposes and health reviews for all.
Those patients who see us in person will be able to park and consult in an environment that is relaxed and welcoming.
1. Contact Us
Whether you contact us by telephone, email or via the website you will be asked to provide an outline of the service you are looking for so that we understand where, how and who we can offer you.
2. Questionnaire
You will be asked to fill in a medical information questionnaire to brief the doctor and allow you to focus on assessing your current situation during the consultation.
3. Confirmation
You will be sent confirmation of your appointment and a reminder the day before. We will invoice and expect payment in advance of the consultation.

Do not suffer in silence – do something about that health problem that has been niggling for a while. Take stock of your health and look at what you can do to improve things now and reduce risks for the future. Do not assume that because you have a long term health issue that nothing can be done to help other problems that are affecting how you feel and what you can do.
Experienced GP's
Our GPs are fully qualified and all have years of experience. Medicine covers many areas, and no one can know everything. There are unknowns and gaps in the data. We will tell you when we cannot answer a question.
We then talk together as expertise is shared within the team and will research issues that we are less sure of.
