Time to Talk

You will have much longer to tell us your story, to be listened to and to discuss your concerns than is available in NHS General Practice.

Making a Decision

You choose which the option you would like to follow and we will help you to make decision that is informed and right for you.

What Women's Health Services do we offer?

We are experienced in a very wide range of female problems from puberty to older age. We are known for menopause but not restricted to it.

Women's Health Assessment

Tell us what bothers you and we will help you to understand it. We may need to add some tests but we do this only where it will add useful information. We will then help you to manage the problem.

We can help you to choose from the menu of all reversible methods of contraception that are available in the UK.

We will understand any concerns and talk you through what you might choose. We will cover how they work and what you have to do to make them work, how well they work and any side effects or risks associated.

We can fit a wide variety of intrauterine devices (coils) as well as contraceptive implants. If you choose the injection we can teach you how to self administer.

We offer cervical screening. We will discuss with you whether this is appropriate but are not limited by the timing restriction of the NHS Cervical Screening program.

We can offer a variety of minor gynaecological procedures and fit intrauterine devices (coils) for contraception, bleeding control and to protect the uterus with HRT.

We can take an endometrial biopsy using a Pipelle device and remove cervical polyps.

We can provide Estradiol implants for HRT but this is only offered after extensive work up when it is the only option available. St Erme Medical does not offer Testosterone implants.

The list of problems we can help with is very long. Heavy periods do not need to be endured and there really are options that can make a big difference.

Problems that stem from the menstrual cycle whether mood change, headache , migraine or physical issues such as breast tenderness have a number of options that we can offer. Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a particularly complex problem with both women’s health and general health elements. We are are well placed to help and support women to understand and live well with this condition.

We are not fertility experts but can undertake some initial discussion and testing. We are specialists in menopause and can manage all levels of complexity. We can help with the issues of older age including prolapse and can fit and monotor a wide range of pessaries.

We do not routinely offer blood test for women’s health appointments but these are used when appropriate when the information can support our advice and your decision making. If using either oestrogen or testosterone as cream or gel for generalised HRT we would ask you not to use the product in the 6 hours prior to the test as it may distort the result.

Women's Health Appointments

These can cover any issue arising from being female from birth. This might include contraception; heavy, irregular, or absent periods; polycystic ovarian syndrome, premenstrual syndrome; menopause; bladder and vaginal concerns; osteoporosis and others. We are very happy to help transgender and non binary people as experienced GPs and do not claim to be specialists.

We do not initiate gender reassignment hormone regimes. Our insurance will not allow us to offer maternity care or see pregnancy related conditions.

What to Expect

St Erme Medical supplements the services provided by the NHS providing time with experienced doctors, continuity of care and management options that are evidence based and supported by guidance. In addition to problem based consultations, we can offer specialist advice in the field of women’s health. As leaders in our field we can offer advice to all women, even those with highly complex histories. Those patients who see us in person will be able to park and consult in an environment that is relaxed and welcoming.

Do not suffer in silence – do something about that health problem that has been niggling for a while. Take stock of your health and look at what you can do to improve things now and reduce risks for the future. Do not assume that because you have a long term health issue that nothing can be done to help other problems that are affecting how you feel and what you can do.

Experienced GP's

Our GPs are fully qualified and all have years of experience. Medicine covers many areas, and no one can know everything. There are unknowns and gaps in the data. We will tell you when we cannot answer a question.

We then talk together as expertise is shared within the team and will research issues that we are less sure of.
